What fine line means
Fine line tattoos are drawn with very small needle groupings, so the lines are thin and precise with little or no heavy black fill. The look is light and minimal: lettering, botanical stems, small animals, travel symbols, dates and constellations. It's the style most first-timers choose, and a favourite for matching tattoos with a partner, a sister or a best friend.
Ideas guests take home from Phuket
From our wall: a single-line red rose, an ocean wave with a star, a diving whale tail, eucalyptus leaves, a running bunny, paw prints for three pets, a name in Thai script and quotes in flowing cursive. Many are small souvenirs of the trip — a wave, a sun, a palm, a date or the coordinates of a favourite beach. As we say on the shutters: take a piece of Phuket home.
Keeping thin lines sharp for years
Ink spreads very slightly under the skin over time, so thin lines need a little breathing room. Very tiny lettering, or lines packed close together, can blur as the years pass. Your artist may suggest making text a bit larger or simplifying a detail — that advice is about how the tattoo will look in ten years, not just next week. Placement matters too: inner forearm, upper arm, collarbone, ribs, spine and ankle are popular; fingers, hands and feet fade faster on everyone.
Black or a touch of colour
Most fine line work is black, but small colour accents work beautifully — a red rose, a purple tulip with a butterfly, a rainbow stripe. Your artist can show you how a colour will sit on your skin tone before you decide.
Walk in or book
Walk-ins are welcome every day from 10:00 to 20:00, depending on artist availability. For bigger custom pieces and in high season (November–April), booking ahead guarantees your artist and date. Send your idea, placement and reference photos through the booking form or on WhatsApp and we'll reply with a free, no-obligation quote, usually within 24 hours.
Get tattooed in the last 2–3 days of your trip. A fresh tattoo needs about 14 days away from the sea, pools and strong sun, so do your beach days first. Our aftercare guide covers the rest. The sun is fine line's biggest enemy: keep it covered while it heals and use SPF 50+ every day once it has.
